Space Invaders was created over 30 years ago and helped push video games to the masses. It was wildly popular and was a pop culture smash.

If you're on this site, chances are that you already know about the game. So you already know that there's no real background to the game. Like, at all. Just that there are invaders, and they are from space. The biggest issue is that there needs to be enough content to make the universe engaging enough to actually fill 90 minutes of film.

This won't be di Bonaventura's first foray into 80's themed movies as he is a producer for the wildly popular Transformers movies, as well as G.I. Joe.

Considering how much money the Transformers movies have made, there may be some hope here. I just can't help but feel that this might not work out as well...
