Alright my non-American friends, take your bandwidth caps off, we're in for a wild ride. Anime streaming site, Crunchyroll has added full 1080p streaming for some of their anime titles. As of press time, we are not aware of any other anime streaming site that allows this kind of bandwidth abusing but eye pleasing streaming.

They plan to offer the 1080p option to paid subscribers, starting with approximately 20 titles which include Naruto Shippuden, Bleach & Nisemonogatari. HD-philes should probably take note that it's rare for 1080p to even be broadcast on TV so it's possible that Crunchy's 1080p option is really an upscale from either 720p or 1080i.

The Gundam portal site, gundam.info, has begun streaming the first 3 movies in the original Gundam series. The movies are in Japanese with English subtitles and include Mobile Suit Gundam I, Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow and Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space. For many of our readers theses movies are way before your time... actually they might even be before my time. But if you have an interest in the series that started them all, it may be worth a look into.

You can check out the movies here for free (oh and legally too)! Drop us a line if you do, to let us know what you think.

In what is a completely unplanned coincidence, Korean broadcaster SBS announced yesterday that they have licensed the live action adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo's manga (which our Manga Hermit mentioned yesterday), City Hunter, to Hulu. Viewers in the United States, Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam will be able to stream the series on demand.

The live action series, which premiered yesterday in South Korea stars actor Lee Min-Ho as Ryo Saeba, a gun for hire with a large libido and Park Minyoung as Ryo's love interest, Kaori. The series takes place in 2011 in Seoul rather than the Tokyo of the 1980s.

I for one have to wonder how they'll portray the protagonists erm... second magnum (for lack of a better euphemism). Let us know if you'll be checking it out in the comments below.

Watch Houkago no Pleiades Now With English Subs

If you haven't seen it already, Gainax x Subaru have kindly subbed their Houkago no Pleiades for the whole world to see in English. It'd have been nice if they released both at the same time but it's the thought that counts.

The series, officially called Wish Upon the Pleiades was quite surprising to most. Not only is it a collaboration between a car company and Gainax but it doesn't even come close to blatant advertising. It's about magical girls and perhaps the only reference to a car in the entire series is that the magical fighting sticks the girls ride make engine sounds (and that the main character's name is Subaru).

As for how this sells cars, we definitely don't know. But due to the international attention this series has been getting they decided to put English subs on it so I guess they've still got something up their sleeve.

Check out the first 4 episodes after the jump in a convenient youtube playlist.

Who doesn't love zombies? If you didn't get enough of Highschool of the Dead last year, then relive the undead experience on Hulu! That's right, if you didn't watch it already you can watch it for free on Hulu. The rather servicey with occasional zombie series, is available to audiences of all ages. Now you too can watch matrix boobs and peeing kids with the threat of impending zombie doom at your convenience. Just don't do it in class or where your parents can see. Otherwise prepare for a ban from life and maybe the internet.

Watch Houkago no Pleiades Now!

Happy February everyone! Welcome to the shortest month of the year. Also now that it's February you can get your Subaru x Gainax magical girl show fix with Houkago no Pleaides. The first four episodes were released yesterday and we've embedded them after the jump.

Unfortunately there's no subs, but it seems like your typical magical girl show (unlike Madoka). Don't let that stop from enjoying their ridiculously large budget for a very short show.
