The Playstation Vita, which was just released in Japan, finally has a list of launch titles for the USA. It's a pretty hefty list, coming in at 25 titles for the first day. The Vita is shaping up to have a very good launch. Here's the list:
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is a game that has a lot riding on its shoulders. It's the end of a trilogy that has featured nothing but critically acclaimed games. It's also the year's flagship exclusive for the Playstation 3, and one of the year's most anticipated games. Does this game raise the bar for the action genre like its predecessor did, or is it just the same as Naughty Dog's other outings?
Hideo Kojima's highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PS3 will also be released on the Vita! During last night's Sony Entertainment press conference, Kojima announced that the game will be on both consoles, with his new 'transfarring' feature enabled, meaning you will be able to use your saves on both systems. These versions will be identical, and will include Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (with Metal Gear 1 and 2) and Peace Walker.
In addition to this news, Sony has also announced that most downloadable PSP titles will be compatible with the Vita. These games will also support the second analog stick included on the new console. Sony is also considering a way for UMD owners to transfer their games onto the Vita.
Earlier today, Sony Computer Entertainment's president, Kazuo Hirai, announced the release of a new firmware update for the PS3, version 3.61. Along with this, the Playstation Network will begin to return. As of now, all 50 states are able to connect to play games online using the PS3 or PSP. Sony urges that users change their passwords immediately after signing in. Other features that have returned include the Playstation Network Video Delivery service, Qriosity, the friends list, Playstation Home, and 3rd party services such as Netflix. The store and everything else will return by the end of May, and Sony will be compensating its users with various gifts.
