Capcom's Youtube channel has just came out with a new Okami HD gameplay trailer. Okami HD, soon to be out for PS3, is an updated version of the original Okami game, which was released for the PS2 in 2006. The game featured a snowy-white dog character, Amaterasu, with a paintbrush for a tail and her insect-sized sidekick, Issun, as the protagonists, as well as a unique cel-shaded setting drawn in the Japanese ink-illustration style known as sumi-e.
At more than 4 minutes long, the trailer shows Amaterasu and Issun fighting demons, solving puzzles, and making part of a darkness-infested world beautiful again. The trailer is largely a sped-up version of an early dungeon in the game, and as such, only demonstrates a few of Amaterasu's abilities. One of the abilities shown in the video includes painting a line on the screen to cut enemies down.
Although Okami HD is supposed to come with, well, HD graphics, the trailer doesn't exactly show that. However, that could be the fault of my YouTube settings and the footage is still quite pretty regardless.
According to ANN, Okami HD incorporates HD graphics, a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio, Playstation Move Support for the Celestial Brush tool (a.k.a. Amaterasu's tail), and trophies for the PS3 set.
The game will be out this Fall for $19.99 on Playstation Network.
